Strawberry Smoothie Recipe - with Orange Juice & Yogurt
2 - 3 cups Strawberries (Fresh strawberries are best)
1/2 - 1 cup Orange Juice (Fresh squeezed is best)
8 oz strawberry yogurt
1 banana
1/2 tablespoon flaxseed oil
1 teaspoon Psyillium seed husks
A handful or two of spinach or romaine (optional)
1-2 cups crushed ice or ice cubes
Blend all fruits and veggies until smooth, then add the crushed ice until smooth (use 1-2 cups of ice — your preference — to your taste)
I always recommend FRESH ingredients if possible. They taste better (at least to me they do) and they are better for you. Frozen is 2nd best and canned fruit should be your last alternative.
I almost always throw some greens (kale, romaine, spinach, celery) into my smoothies. Depending on how much you add, you rarely taste them. They don't affect the great taste of the smoothie and you are getting some awesome fresh vitamin and mineral packed veggies into your diet.
Give it a try and start adding some greens to your smoothies - start small (just a few leaves) and you will see how easy it is to add vegetables to your smoothies.
Give a green smoothie to your children and they will never know they just ate vegetables.
They will think they had a tasty milkshake and will probably ask for seconds!
